The Rubio Challenge
Rubio is a durable fighter who has challenged for a world title on two previous occasions. The first was in 2009 when he took the then WBC/WBO champ Kelly Pavlik. Rubio retired after nine rounds of action. The second time was when he dropped a unanimous decision to then WBC champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in February 2012. (The pair are in action above). Since the Chavez Jr. loss, Rubio has rattled off six consecutive wins en route to his third tilt at a title. While he comes into the fight an underdog, the challenger will have some vocal support from Mexican fight fans at the StubHub center on fight night.
