Nick Kurtz just had a wild game as a rookie for the Athletics.
In fact, he made history.
“20th 4-HR game in history,” proclaimed MLB.com on X. “First rookie with 4-HR game. Ties MLB record for most total bases (since 1900) with 19. Nick Kurtz etches his name in baseball history!”
Noted MLB.com of Kurtz’s July stats: “Nick Kurtz is having one of the best months we’ve ever seen from a player – let alone a rookie!”
At 22, Kurtz is too young to be married or have a wife, but he does have a girlfriend. And it wasn’t that long ago that he was telling his girlfriend Ally Eliea that he had made it to the majors.
He did so nonchalantly, according to the Sacramento Bee.
In the April 2025 article, Kurtz’s girlfriend explained how he broke the news to her.
Ally Eliea told the Bee that “the two spent some time chatting about her work before he mentioned that he was being brought up to the majors.
“What did you just say?” Eliea told the newspaper that she asked.
Kurtz keeps his personal life off Instagram, where he focuses on baseball photos. On the field, though, his girlfriend, parents and siblings were in the stands to watch him get his first hit as a Major Leaguer. They even got some airtime on television, as his father gestured in an animated fashion, a video posted by MLB.com shows.
His mother, Marie, and father, Jeff, who works in real estate, told the Bee how emotional they became when they heard the news; his mother started crying and his father was so overcome that he had to shut his office door, the Bee reported.
He had a glove on his hand by the time he could walk,” Marie told the Bee, which noted that Kurtz, who is from Lancaster, PA, was given a baseball at birth.
Kurtz is nicknamed the “Big Amish,” but not because he’s Amish – it’s because Lancaster, where he is from, has a large Amish population, according to USA Today.
