Team USA is ready to suit up.
Speedo International has unveiled the newest gear for the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics that will be worn by some of the top American athletes like Ryan Lochte, Missy Franklin, Nathan Adrian, Natalie Coughlin, Jessica Hardy, and Tyler Clary.
The Fastskin LZR Racer X and Fastskin LZR Racer 2 swimsuits have new designs that were created to give a “powerful image with shading and contrast around muscle definition,” according to a press release. The suits were designed so that the swimmers will “feel their fastest” when they are in the water, and the LZR Racer X was made with the focus on “four crucial performance components; compression, construction, sensitivity and support.”
Franklin and Lochte both brought home multiple gold medals at the 2012 London Games for the United States, and in Rio they’ll try to do it again.
“I have trusted Speedo throughout my career to help me feel fast and confident in every race, and I am honored to wear the stars and stripes on my Fastskin suit,” said Franklin in the release. “Speedo has truly created suits that combine the needs of their athletes with the latest developments in technology, and the addition of this patriotic design makes me even more excited to work toward the opportunity to represent my country this summer.”
