Long before The Sandlot, kids' baseball movies starred an alcoholic Walter Matthau. The story of a down-on-his-luck ex-minor leaguer who unwantedly agrees to coach a little league team is the original family hit of the summer; fun for all ages. Misfit kids doing right by their misfit coach might be a cliche premise, but when it's done this well, you're always going to find yourself rooting for the Bears.
