4. High School Hazing
While the world was still wringing its hands with the NFL’s domestic violence incidents in 2014, two high school football programs in New Jersey and Pennsylvania were shut down because of horrific reports of hazing. In Sayreville, N.J., the high school’s football season was eventually cancelled after seven players were accused of repeatedly sodomizing younger players in October. Less than a month later, Central Bucks West High School in Pennsylvania called off its last two games of the season, fired the head coach, and suspended assistant coaches amid accusations of “humiliating and inappropriate” treatment of rookies by upperclassmen.
