If there's a badass feat of strength to conquer, it's only a matter of time before strongman Hafthor Bjornsson crushes it. Better known as "The Mountain" on Game of Thrones, Bjornsson just set a new world record for the keg toss. The Icelandic athlete chucked a 33-pound keg 23 feet, 5 inches in the air, beating his own record. Last fall Bjornsson set a best height of 23 feet, 1 inch, but like the high jump or pole vault, your score is only as high as the bar is set, and he sent the steel barrel well above that mark.
Bjornsson set the record at this year's World's Strongest Man competition, currently being held in Botswana (yes, really). He's finished on the event's podium the last four years, but surprisingly never claimed the title. The keg toss came in the qualifying round, and Bjornsson appears to be a lock for the finals and maybe even the championship.
World's Strongest Man or not, Bjornsson has a talent for taking on ridiculous records. In January, he appeared on the Guinness World Records Italian Show to set a best time for the 20-Meter Fridge Carry — essentially a yoke walk with two refrigerators. Our favorite Bjornsson record, however, came last year after he cracked the 1,000-year-old distance mark for carrying a 1,400-pound ship mast at the World's Strongest Viking competition.
