The golfers on the PGA Tour are some of the fittest athletes in sports. To keep in such great shape, those golfers have to stay on their training schedules and be able to train, even when they’re at tournaments around the country. The PGA Tour just gave them a new way to do it: The organization recently announced that two new state-of-the-art mobile fitness centers with Technogym equipment will be available for golfers through the golf season.
The new fitness centers are expanding on what the PGA Tour previously provided, expanding by over 200 square feet from what the previous facilities offered for players. The centers will include state-of-the-art sports performance equipment from Technogym, including SKILLRUN Treadmills and SKILLTOOLS. The locations will also have a range of fitness equipment as well as areas for players to do functional movement work and stretching.
Golfer Brooks Koepka, who has won back-to-back U.S. Open titles and is one of the fittest golfers on the PGA Tour, said that it will be very helpful for players to have access to the new fitness centers when they travel and play at tournaments.
“The availability is huge for us golfers,” Koepka said. “You can come in right before you play, or right when you’re done, and you can get your body loose and ready to go, or recovered, whatever you need.”
The PGA Tour has Player Performance Centers that travel throughout the season and the new fitness centers will be part of that grouping. The centers will go to 62 events between the PGA TOUR and PGA TOUR Champions during the season.
The centers won’t just have fitness equipment—they’ll also be fitted with a full range of other helpful things for golfers like high-speed WiFi, workout shoes and clothing for all players, Bluetooth surround sound, as well as refrigerators and Smart TVs with satellite service. The Technogym SKILLTOOLS will provide a wide range of options for players to use for recovery after playing, as well as for total body stability, mobility, and power development for their workouts.
“Since the original fitness centers were introduced on TOUR more than 30 years ago, we have seen how fitness has advanced our players’ performance and extended their careers,” said PGA TOUR Commissioner Jay Monahan in a press release. “Today’s unveiling of a new fitness center is another landmark moment in the growth of the PGA TOUR and our ongoing efforts to best serve our members. As our sport grows, so do the expectations and the preparation needed to compete at the world-class level we see every week.”
The Performance Centers are made up of two sets of semi-trailers, and the players are also given access to wellness centers that provide therapy and recovery treatment for golfers.
“Technogym has been training champions for the past 30 years, including our legacy as the official equipment supplier to the past seven Olympic Games,” said Nerio Alessandri, President and Founder of Technogym said in a press release. “We are very proud to have been chosen by PGA TOUR to provide world class sports performance equipment and solutions for the elite TOUR players. This partnership represents a strong validation of our ongoing investment in R&D for our products, innovation and quality standards.”
