October 17: Madison Bumgarner Wins NLCS, Chugs Six Beers (Simultaneously)
Madison Bumgarner could never throw another pitch in his life and the 25-year-old lefty would always be a hero in San Francisco. That’s what happens when you turn in a postseason performance like he did. While Giants fans will remember the eye-popping stats on the field (52.2 innings and 1.03 ERA), the rest of us will remember the numbers he put up in the postgame celebrations. Specifically, the number of beers he chugged. He started with four after the Giants won the NL Wild Card, added another after the NLDS and settled on a cool half-dozen after the NLCS. Did he go for seven after winning the World Series MVP? Unfortunately not, but there’s always next year.
