11. Johnny Unitas, Baltimore Colts
“The Golden Arm” was the face of football in his era, re-defining what it meant to play the quarterback position. The longtime Baltimore Colts star gutted his way through 17 seasons in the league—and that’s back when there were basically no rules for where and how hard a quarterback, meaning Johnny U took some major wallops on the gridiron. Unitas took part in some of the most famous games in history, including the 1958 championship (a.k.a. “The Greatest Game Ever Played”) and the Super Bowl III upset loss against Joe Namath’s underdog New York Jets before making it into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1979.
