UFC 207 Live Blog: Ronda Rousey Vs. Amanda Nunes Fight Results

Rousey main knockout

Ronda Rousey’s long-awaited return to the Octagon was short-lived.

The former champion was knocked out by Amanda Nunes 48 seconds into the first round after taking a barrage of punches to the head. Rousey was back in the ring for the first time in over a year—her first fight since her stunning defeat against Holly Holm from the “kick heard round the world—and she finished with another stunner.

Nunes attacked from the opening of the round and never let up, retaining her bantamweight championship title. Referee Herb Dean was forced to call it after Rousey took multiple blows from Nunes while on the cage of the Octagon.

Although Rousey lost the fight, she’ll still bring home a $3 million paycheck, tying with Conor McGregor for the biggest in mixed martial arts history. After such a devastating loss, this could be the last fight of Rousey’s career.

Rousey had trained hard and got herself into great shape—just look at this before and after photo—but it wasn’t enough to beat Nunes. Rousey first lost the bantamweight title to Holm before it changed hands from Miesha Tate to Nunes.

Rousey-Nunes was the most anticipated fight, but there were some other great matchups on the docket too, including the co-main event, with Cody Garbrandt beating Dominick Cruz to win the a bantamweight title after a 5-round match.
