On Tuesday night at the 2018 Australian Open, the comedian hijacked a post-match interview with tennis legend Roger Federer, who had just scored a 6-3, 6-4, 6-3 win over Aljaz Bedene.
The results? Bizarre, hilarious, and just a touch uncomfortable (for Federer, at least).
“In the immortal words of Ron Burgundy,” Ferrell said, “it’s great to be here with two tennis legends—Roger Federer and John McIntosh,” intentionally flubbing the last name of American tennis icon John McEnroe (who was also on-court).
Ferrell then went on to ask Federer a series of refreshingly bizarre questions that he’s likely never been asked before: “Would you describe your game as a silky gazelle?” and “Are you a witch or a vampire?”
Naturally, Ferrell had to close his one-on-one with the Swiss pro with a time-honored throwback: “You stay classy, Melbourne.”
