Simplicity can make an impressive impact and carry a design (and your investment) through the tides of complex trends. A minimalist watch strips away over-complicated exteriors and circles back to the fundamental art of the timepiece.
“Every aspect of the design is necessary for the watch to fulfill its purpose,” says Patrick Bek, founder and creative director of Uniform Wares. “It conveys style that’s classic, considered, and timeless.”
When shopping for a watch that best suits your paycheck examine the finer details. The movement manufacture is important, Bek says, “and its provenance should be investigated.” Different grades of steel, glass, and leather and all should be considered. But above all it should be comfortable, and versatile.
“If I only had one watch I’d switch out straps for different occasions,” Bek suggests. “Treat it with respect but wear it as it was intended, try to have it serviced every three years and build a collection of straps to keep things fresh.”
Here are some of the best minimalist watches available now.
