While every kind of product — from helmets to toothbrushes — seems to be getting “smart” these days, watchmakers (that aren’t named Apple) are aggressively getting back to classic form. That was the takeaway from our time at this year’s Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) in Geneva, Switzerland. The focus on more accessible watches and the renewal of icons were the two major themes of this year’s show — no doubt in response to 2015’s notable drop in watch sales — as manufacturers mined existing models as inspiration for their new creations.
