Lighten Your Lotion
The single easiest way to improve skin quality this summer is to ditch your thick winter moisturizer. “People have drier skin in the winter due to the low humidity, and a thicker lotion helps lock in the skin’s natural moisture,” Dr. Chang explains. “But the increase of moisture in the air during more humid seasons means that if you have oily skin at baseline, the higher humidity will make your skin more oily as well.”
The solution: Choose a formula that allows your skin to breathe. Since men’s skin is thicker and oilier than women’s, lighter weight, oil-free facial products during summer months must be used,” says Dr. Schultz. The active ingredients will likely be the same in both the cold and warm weather versions, he points out, just the formula for the delivery of them will change. Two to try: Anthony Oil-Free Facial Lotion [$30, Sephora.com]; Eucalyptus SPF 15 Daily Facial Moisturizer [$35, artofshaving.com].
