A Refined Denim Jacket

If you’re in the market for a denim jacket, then you should keep a few rules in mind: Avoid acid wash at all costs, make sure the tail ends where your waist begins, and never pair one with jeans of a similar color (unless you’re a ranch hand, in which case, have at it, boss). With his Dylan jacket, Todd Snyder has one rule to add: Make sure your pick is navy blue. Made from Italian cotton, his six-button trucker isn’t as rugged-looking as similar numbers from Levi’s – a slimmer cut revamps the boxier fit we’ve grown accustomed to, and metal shanks sewn in place of buttons are a fresh twist (and a nod to the designer’s passion for vintage military wear). The Dylan is soft to the touch but a bit stiff, so wear it down with durable chinos and a well-fitting T-shirt. All that’s left to do is head for the bar and order that other American classic – a well watered-down whiskey. [$495; toddsnyder.com]
