As a fit guy, sweating is probably one of the most frequent gross problems you deal with. You’ll get drenched during your HIIT workouts, of course, but it can also result from eating these foods or simply squeezing through a crowd during a congested commute. And while breaking a sweat may be acceptable in the gym, pit stains aren’t such a great look in the office.
There is a certain product, though, that can help prevent it—and it’s not deodorant. The words deodorant and antiperspirant are used almost interchangeably, but they’re entirely different things.
First, a quick science lesson: Believe it or not, sweat is completely odorless. The foul smell occurs when the sweat that travels through the glands reaches the skin’s surface and mixes with bacteria. Deodorant helps control the smell by covering it with a scent. Antiperspirant, on the other hand, contains aluminum—an active ingredient that, when applied and absorbed into the skin, prevents sweating.
Don’t worry if you’ve missed it on the shelves: the two grooming goods are sold in similar packaging (some are even available in a two-in-one product). The key is finding one with aluminum. Rather than spending an hour in the store comparing the ingredients on all 50 bottles, we did the work for you by narrowing it down to 10 highly effective ones to choose from.Back to top
