Ferragamo Tells ‘A Man’s Story’ With Its Latest Collection

In 1914, a teenage Salvatore Ferragamo came to America and started a made-to-measure shoemaking service with his brothers that grew quickly and began a journey that has helped define modern menswear for more than 100 years (and counting). So to celebrate the brand’s first century and raise a toast to the next, the iconic label is celebrating men who, like young Salvatore, illustrate masculinity in the modern age with A Man’s Story.

The project, spearheaded by Ferragamo creative director Massimiliano Giornetti and shot by photographer and filmmaker Francesco Carozzini, focuses on the lives of a few famous, stylish men, and allows them to tell the story of how they became who they are today through hard work, a passion for their craft, and willingness toward “making their own rules.”

“My family lived up in a ski resort, my dad was a ski instructor, and the entire town was all about skiing… but a couple of the teachers actually played hockey,” New York Rangers’s goalie Henrik Lundqvist explains of his own story. “They introduced the sport to us and we loved it. So instead of skiing, we turned our attention and our focus to hockey. At first it was a struggle to stand up on the skates, but there was something about the game we loved.”

Of course, dressing the part never hurt, so the chosen men, including Lundqvist, rapper A$AP Rocky, artist Ryan McGinley, actor Douglas Booth, and entrepreneurs Tyrone Wood, Louis-Marie de Castelbajac, and Alexander Gilkes, are all decked out in Ferragamo’s finest.
