There are days when we all want to be Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, chasing that need for speed while wearing aviators and bomber jackets, and blaring Kenny Loggins in our headphones just low enough so no one else can hear. It feels like all we need is a fighter jet to complete the look, though we'd settle for a motorcycle or volleyball game with the boys. Well Casio doesn't make fighter jets (or volleyball nets, apparently), but now they're bringing the cockpit to your wrist with the new seriously tough G-Shock GA1000 Gravitymaster.
You can see the 52mm timepiece, an analog watch that calibrates itself to using a GPS receiver and six global signals, perform on the arm of seasoned test pilot Justin Decio as he takes it 30,000 feet straight up. The dial mimics his instruments and is similarly easy to navigate with a pro behind the controls. The Gravitymaster will be available next month, so you have plenty of time to memorize out-of-context Top Gun quotes before you buy.
"You can be my wingman anytime."
"Negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full."
"Talk to me, Goose."
"Crash and burn, huh Mav?"
"Hollywood's like, 'Where'd who go?!'"
"Because I was inverted."
"I'll hit the brakes, he'll fly right by."
"You don't have time to think up there. If you think, you're dead"
"That's right, Ice Man… I am dangerous."
"She's lost that loving feeling."
Available at Gshock.com and G-Shock NYC Soho Store, starting at $650.
