If you’re the kind of guy who wears button downs as often as other guys wear t-shirts, you’ll know how difficult it can be to find the right combination of style and value. You’ll also likely have to replace them a lot more often than everyone else. And with many quality clothiers opening the floor for dress shirts and button downs around the $80 mark, that can get pretty pricey, pretty fast.
Which is one of the reasons we’re glad we came across Goodthreads, an Amazon Fashion private label brand that launched earlier this year. A lot of its shirts go for just $25 — there are a few $30 options mixed in — and are all made from 100 percent cotton and washed for a really soft feel. Like their more expensive cousins at other brands, the shirts toe that increasingly fine line between dressy and casual. (For super formal business attire, Amazon also has a line of proper dress shirts called Buttoned Down whose wares all retail for less than $50.)
What’s more, Goodthreads also offers chinos with just the right amount of stretch ($30), crewneck t-shirts ($12), and a bomber jacket with similar detailing as the military originals ($50). If they ever start making jeans or suiting, they’ll be dangerously close to offering a complete men’s wardrobe.
But here’s the hook: Goodthreads and Buttoned Down are only available to Amazon Prime subscribers. Although, when you’re saving this much money on the kind of things you wear day in and day out, it helps to take some bite out of the $99 annual fee. Membership, as they say, definitely has its privileges.
