New York City has long been one of the style capitals of the world. For as long as anyone can remember, Fashion Week in New York has been the time you see restaurants filled with the most sophisticated people from all over the world, bars with lines around the corner because the IT crowd gets first dibs, and models casually wandering the streets of downtown in the latest slouchy shirt, ripped jeans and destroyed boots. But for years, these models have been primarily women, since a lot of New York menswear designers decided to go to Europe to showcase their collections. Well, the times have changed. Men are paying a lot more attention to their day-to-day appearance. That involves a great grooming regimen, a great fitness routine, and of course, a great sense of style. That means the menswear world has noticed, and it has finally brought the men’s designers to New York City.
The first ever New York Fashion Week:Mens kicks off on Monday, July 13th, with New York public relations firm Agentry PR’s own “Men’s Day” (they have been on the forefront of bringing the fashion troops home for a while now and doing a day devoted to men for a few seasons now) followed on Tuesday by the Council of Fashion Designers of America-sponsored shows for the rest of the week. Having it’s very own week allows for a lot of those menswear designers who the fashion folks may have known for a while to shine with the hopes of becoming house hold names within a season. Other brands you may have heard of have switched it up with new creative directors taking the leads to take a brand in a new direction, making it even more exciting than it once was. Take a look at what inspires some of the labels, designers, and creative directors and what they do the day of the show to stay calm, and get ready. Remember their names. They are well on their way to being mainstays in your closet.
