If you were a kid and a basketball fan who also happened to love cartoons and R. Kelly slow jams back in 1996, Space Jam was a huge deal. Sure, maybe it didn’t make the cut for our list of best sports films, but that doesn’t make Michael Jordan playing alongside Bugs Bunny against a bunch of evil aliens any less iconic. (And the fact that it’s still the highest grossing basketball film ever is also nothing to sneeze at.)
That’s what makes the news that Nike will be putting out a pair of “Hare” Jordans to keep the 30th birthday celebration for the most popular sneaker line in history going.
Modeled after the classic Jordan 1s, these updates feature the most famous rabbit in the world on the tongue in the Jumpman pose, with a multi-colored background popping out behind the clean white laces. Made for him and her, these will probably sell fast when they’re made available by Nike this Saturday, April 4th.
