People in the most style-obsessed corners of the internet earlier this week were ecstatic with the news that legendary menswear brand Prada would finally, finally be available for online purchase, via high-end men’s clothing and accessories website Mr. Porter. There are currently 73 items available, all of them wildly expensive, and a few of them — we’re looking at you, $270 three-pack of undershirts — just totally silly. But hidden among those oddities are pieces that perfectly illustrate the longstanding appeal of the brand. Prada emphasizes what they call “inward-directed luxury,” meaning their garments don't insist on being noticed the way some others do. Their focus has traditionally been on high-quality fabrics, which they often combine in innovative and unexpected ways — all of which results in clothes that will look good, and last, basically forever.
