American athletes have a lot going on in Rio — pole vaults, wrestling matches, and spinning dives off ridiculously-high boards, to name a few. But the Olympic Games are about more than just abnormally fit humans performing awe-inspiring physical feats. Rio is also a parade of the latest and greatest in global grooming trends, and the U.S. has no shortage of representatives. From rowing to rugby, facial hair abounds. Of course, sporting a beard while playing a sport is no small feat either. “Just like the hair on your head gets sweaty during physical activity, beards collect all the sweat running down your face,” says Beard Paw founder Colin Staton, who makes premium beard wipes that can revive even the grimiest Olympian’s beard.
