“It all starts with the fabric,” explains Omar Rada, founder of Proof clothing. “Just like a good chef uses the best ingredients they can find, we wanted to use the best fabric.”
Proof’s new Nomad Shorts prove that Rada is as good as his word. Made using a four-way-stretch Dryskin blend from the Swiss company Schoeller, the Nomad Shorts look and feel great no matter whether you’re hanging out or hiking. Coffee, red wine, and water also slide right off, making these shorts a great option for travel and pool hopping (they dry out in about 15 minutes). The four-way stretch and breathability came in handy on a recent bike ride, while the four-pocket design, 9-inch inseam, and belt loops garnered us compliments rather than strange looks at a formal(ish) clam bake.
Washing the Nomads was easy and they never seemed to wrinkle – even after we stuffed them into an overnight bag next to a damp towel.
Designed and manufactured in New York, Proof’s Nomad Shorts bridge the gap between athletic shorts that belong in a gym and traditional shorts that belong everywhere else. The only problem we have with them is that we want to put them on every morning and we only have one pair. [$98; proofny.com]
