Atelier de Production et de Création, better known as A.P.C., has been producing simple, but profoundly wearable, clothes since 1987. Though it recently partnered with Kanye West for a limited edition “Hip Hop” line, this fashion house is at its best when it makes everyday shirts like the ever-approachable “Steve.”
Made from flannel cotton, Steve comes in either ochre or navy and can be worn buttoned-up to the neck, casually unbuttoned, or layered under a tailored jacket. When paired with dark jeans and a less bulky coat, the slim cut of the waist of the Steve doesn’t get all bunched up and grungy looking, meaning this shirt is ready for more formal occasions. The extremely soft cotton, which almost feels like quick-dry fabric, is also just the right thickness for men trying to keep cool on a summer day and warm during evening cocktails.
You’ll be on a first-name basis with this shirt after one wear and best friends after two – just be careful that your significant other doesn’t get too enamored of Steve. He’s hard to compete with. [$220; usaonline.apc.fr]
