Air Jordan XII
The Jordan XII is a sneaker that was — in the words of Tinker Hatfield — “inspired by a drawing of a woman’s fashion shoe.” Borrowing from a fancy high heel is about as gutsy as things get in the testosterone-fueled world of signature basketball shoes, so in spite of its simple construction, the XII may have been Jordan’s boldest sneaker to date. Regardless of its origins, the Jordan XII is a perfect bookend to the line’s evolution, from a flashy controversy magnet to a sneaker designed for universal appeal, stripped of all cultural (and gender) specificities.
