Havgrím Seaside Hotel
The Faroe Islands might not immediately come to mind when you think of the top Nordic destinations, but this North Atlantic archipelago within the Kingdom of Denmark should definitely be on your radar. Sitting northwest of Scotland and sandwiched between Norway and Iceland, this rugged region is comprised of 18 jaw-dropping islands. Tórshavn is the capital and largest town of the Faroe Islands, and is also home to Havgrím Seaside Hotel. Originally built in 1948 and known by locals as the Commodore’s House, the stately property was purchased in 2017 and officially re-opened to guests in April of 2018 after a series of updates and renovations. Its new look feels refreshed (bright, white linens swathed in natural light) while still maintaining the building’s original style and charm. With only a handful of rooms and suites, the hotel provides the perfect hideaway overlooking the wave-lapped shores of Streymoy Island.
