With a population of less than 600 people it would be hard to find a more genuine Mexican beachside hideaway. Mostly known for its consistent surf break the town has a permanent collection of beach bums lounging about waiting for the next set to roll in. Located twenty miles north of tourist hotspots Ixtapa and Zihuatenejo, it offers miles and miles of beach, a barefoot vibe reminiscent of the seventies, and a hammock in every yard. These people are laid back. “You are going there to do three things; surf, eat seafood, and lie around in a hammock,” says Zach Rabinor of Journey Mexico. If looking for some adventure to balance out you visit Costa Nativa Ecotours offers kayaking, standup paddle boarding, and snorkeling trips. Casa Delfin Sonriente has is affordable and beachside.
Getting There: Fly into Ixtapa/Zihuatenejo and catch taxi for the 50-minute ride to town.
