After a six-year renovation, don’t expect to find anything old or stuffy about the the 18th-century Kokkedal Castle. Located about 30 minutes outside of the city, the 62-room-estate offers the perfect mix of quiet countryside living and close proximity to all the action in Copenhagen. Among the reimagined property’s amenities are the Kokkedal Castle Spa by Sodashi, which includes a swimming pool, luxurious treatment rooms, and a sauna/steam room and locally-sourced dining at the Castle Cellar Restaurant (where high tea on Sunday has become a local tradition). Guests are also given first-class access to the nearby Kokkedal Golf Club and a handful of cultural institutions, including the Louisiana Museum of Modern Art, Museum Nivaagaard, and the Karen Blixen Museum.
