Once dubbed “The Best Dude Ranch in Arizona” by the Arizona Republic, Tanque Verde Ranch is located within the Saguaro National Park, and as such guests have prime access to the many adventures that await them in and around the Sonoran Desert, including hiking, biking, horseback riding, cow penning, barrel racing, fishing, mountain climbing, and cave exploration. But once back within the confines of the ranch, you won’t be expected to sleep on a bale of hay; the property offers a range of lodging Santa Fe-style lodging options including Salas (rooms), Casitas (junior suites), and Haciendas (suites). Look around for some of the ranch’s original structures that are still-standing, like the room in which original owner Emilio Carrillo was hanged nearly 150 years ago (one of three times it happened, when it was suspected that he was hiding gold on his property).
