Washington School House (Park City, UT)
It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that the Washington School House began its life as, well, a school house. Originally built in 1889 (and burned to the ground during Park City’s Great Fire of 1898), the property underwent a massive renovation in 2011 and emerged as just the kind of chic ski lodge you’d expect to find in the mountain town where the Sundance Film Festival takes place. Just steps from Main Street, from the outside the hotel still maintains its historic charm, with its original quarried limestone exterior (the only thing that survived the fire). But inside, it’s a totally modern experience with a dozen oversized rooms decked out with lush fabrics and vintage details that add up to one of the area’s sleekest boutique hotels.
