The Peabody: Memphis, Tennessee
If you’re strolling through Memphis—every music lovers’ mecca—book a stay at The Peabody. Tradition is at the center of everything they do. It’s been that way since they opened their doors in 1925. The strangest example? Their ducks. Yes, ducks. Back in the 1930s, following a drunken hunting trip, some hunters thought it would be funny to put their live decoys in the hotel’s fountain. Guests loved it, so for the last 90 years the hotel has kept a gaggle of ducks on hand. Each day at 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. the ducks make their way to the fountain, so you can go and say hi.
