It’s a touchy subject, discussing how affordable a country is relative to one’s own. Usually, the implications are that the “less expensive” country’s economy is hurting, whereas the tourist’s own country is more firmly on its feet.
We’re far off our own 2008 crisis, when the dollar was worth half the British pound, and two thirds of a Euro. It’s still not so cost effective to visit Europe in large, either, since its primary destinations are expensive in any economy. You’ll return feeling great about the experience, without paying it off for the next six months.
Here are eight such countries or cities you should consider visiting, keeping in mind that your tourism expenses do indeed help their economy. But be sensitive to the exchange rate, by not bartering with local vendors to try and get an even bigger steal. Just enjoy yourself, say yes to every opportunity, and encourage your friends to do the same.
