In Fez or Marrakesh, you can rent a private double room in a beautiful riad for $100 per night, and everyday expenses in Morocco will cost you a third of what you’re used to paying in big U.S. cities. Note that there’s often a local’s price and a tourist’s price, so just be sure you never pay more than what’s listed—that you pay the fixed, advertised price, and not an even higher rate. Do yourself a favor and spend a night in the Sahara, at an oasis-like desert camp, for the same nightly fare (or less). In all, you and your travel companion can stay a long, comfortable weekend in Morocco—rocking all the kasbahs you want—and easily spend under $500 each.
