10. Nashville, TN
Why you should go: Winter is low season in Nashville, but the music doesn’t stop. And with fewer tourists, you’re more likely to nab seats at famous venues, like the Ryman Auditorium, the Grand Ole Opry, and Bluebird Cafe. Or make like a local and check out new acts at The Basement, The Station Inn, or Mercy Lounge.Â
Why it’s a steal: Flights to Nashville are about 24 percent lower than the median airfare for North American flights. The average fare between December and March is $237. Hotel rooms go for a median rate of $207, which is a savings of 16 percent.
Where to stay: The boutique Fairlane Hotel, which opened in downtown Nashville’s Arts District just over a year ago, has 81 luxe rooms starting at $259 and a great drinking scene. During the signature Fairlane at Five, hosted daily by the resident Governor, you can sip local spirits served on a vintage bar cart right in the lobby.Â
