3. Orlando, FL
Why you should go: Temperatures still climb into the mid-70s in Orlando in the winter, which makes it a welcome escape for northerners. But, despite the fact it’s home to seven major theme parks (including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando), you’ll still experience less crowds than the rest of the year.Â
Why it’s a steal: Flights to Orlando are about 33 percent lower than the median airfare for North American flights: In January, the average fare is as low as $172, and booking two to six weeks in advance will get you the best deal. From December to January, hotel rooms go for around $150.
Where to stay: The Aventura Hotel just opened at Universal Orlando Resort in August 2018, and its gleaming towers are home to a whopping 600 guest rooms starting at $120. Fun fact: This hotel features the first-ever rooftop bar and grill on Universal property.
