33. Sacramento, CA
Why go: Sacramento is called the City of Trees, so it really shines in the fall. The city is also known as America’s Farm-to-Fork capital, with the annual Farm-to-Fork Festival held Sept. 19-29. If you miss that, there’s always Specialty Coffee Week Oct. 8-13.
Where to stay: The Kimpton Sawyer is one of the newest hotels in Sacramento, and boasts the city’s first rooftop pool with views of the vibrant downtown area (Downtown Commons). There’s a farm-to-fork restaurant, Revival at the Sawyer, right on the rooftop, with a bar serving up seasonal cocktails (think grilled peach-infused bourbon).
