12. Cle Elum, WAGet More Info
Why go: Eighty miles and just an hour-and-a-half drive from Seattle, Cle Elum is ripe for a weekend away. The town sits at the base of the Cascade Mountains, near Wenatchee National Forest, and has tons of Pacific Northwest recreation. Take your pick: There’s hiking, fishing, and mountain biking, as well as craft brewery and winery hopping.
Where to stay: Suncadia Resort, right in the heart of Cle Elum, has a choose-your-own-adventure vibe: For a more intimate experience, opt for The Inn at Suncadia; if a luxury hotel is more your scene, grab a room at the full-service The Lodge at Suncadia, which offers panoramic river and mountain views. (There are also three championship golf courses on site.)
