38. Cheyenne, WY
Get More InfoWhy go: Set up camp in Cheyenne—located just 90 miles from Denver—if you want to spend your weekend rock climbing, hiking, and visiting the historic rock formations at Vedauwoo National Monument. For 10 days in July, the town gets taken over by Cheyenne Frontier Days, the biggest rodeo event in America, but you can experience those western vibes all year.
Where to stay: Post up right in town at the Nagle Warren Mansion B&B, which dates back to 1888 (it’s actually 11 years older than the rodeo, which is already one of the oldest events in America). It’s been updated with modern amenities, but staying there still feels a little like stepping back in time.
