44. Sag Harbor, NYGet More Info
Why go: This charming Long Island hamlet is just a jitney ride away from New York City, and lacks the New York party scene you’d find in Montauk. Once a popular seaport for whaling ships, it’s now full of yoga studios, art galleries, antique shops, and restaurants. If you want more than the bayside beaches, the Atlantic Ocean (and the Hamptons) are just 15 minutes away.
Where to stay: The recently renovated Baron’s Cove is located directly on the harbor and offers the best sunset views in town. It’s just a short walk from Main Street, and famous for hosting legends like Truman Capote, Paul Newman, Art Garfunkel, and Billy Joel.
