At the World Longboard Championship, there is an altercation between a non-competitor who wouldn’t leave the water and a competitor and another man. They are later charged with assault and found guilty. “That incident changed policy of territorialism in water,” Sam George says. “It made people realize you can’t beat someone up because they’re taking your wave.”
