5. Always have your health insurance on hand
Once all the fun and games came to an end, I needed to deal with my healthcare provider. Before you go abroad, know what your health insurance covers. I knew mine covered emergency situations. However, the clinic wouldn’t fill out my health insurance’s claim form and they didn’t have a fax, so I asked for copies of my health report diagnosis and hospital receipt. When I went home a few days later, I filled out the claim along with copies of all the information. Always have documentation—that way, if your insurance can cover part or all of the cost, you have all the info handy.
