It’s easy to get in a rut when planning a trip, but defaulting to an easy destination is how you end up at the Hard Rock Hotel Punta Cana or, gulp, Atlantis. Tour operators are expanding into destinations they’ve never before visited, airlines are widening their webs and hotels and cruises are venturing forth in wilder and more remote locales.
“We’re seeing people wanting to be more remote,” says Scott Wiseman, President of Cox & Kings, The Americas, pointing to destinations such as Greenland and Northern Sudan as places intrepid travelers should have on their radars this year. “The bucket list today has become more and more challenging.”
