Instead of the Colorado Rockies go to Canada’s Kootenay Rockies
The name doesn’t quite roll off the tongue like the Rockies you’re used to, but British Columbia’s Kootenay Rockies offer a less-tracked mountain experience and world class cat skiing for powder hounds willing to cross the border into Canada. The mountains spread across four rugged ranges that include the Selkirks, Rockies, Purcells and Monashees. Head to spots like Fernie to hit the private bowls and gladed forests of the Lizard Range with Island Lake Catskiing. Come summer, there’s epic mountain biking, hiking and white water rafting in every direction.
