43. Catskills, New York
Why the Catskills: The Catskills have a long past as a vacation destination (remember the getaway in Dirty Dancing?), and the region was recently named one of Lonely Planet’s Best Travel Destinations of 2019, thanks to a wealth of outdoor activities, farm-to-table food, and craft breweries. Head north from the city as temperatures heat up to take advantage of the decidedly un-Hamptons escape.
Where to stay: Resorts World Catskills Casino Resort has an all-suite hotel with rooms that range from 600 to over 2,000 square feet and a new property called The Alder, with more standard (affordable) rooms. It’s also the closest casino to NYC, with more than 100,000 square feet of Las Vegas-style gaming, curated treatments at Crystal Life Spa, and 10 bars and restaurants.
