Though his family heritage is Italian, racing superstar Dario Franchitti is Scottish to the core. Both his parents were born in the rolling country to the north of England. Franchitti, the three-time Indianapolis 500 winner took up driving while studying at Stewart’s Melville College in Edinburgh. The capital city is “absolutely stunning,” he tells ‘Men’s Journal,’ “though I probably didn’t fully appreciate it at the time.”
Franchitti keeps an impressive home in Scotland, and he’s there with friends and family as often as he can be. He drives, of course, but he also enjoys touring the coastline from the deck of a sailboat, another of his passions. “The country’s so compact so you can see the whole thing in three days,” he says.
