New England and Quebec
El Niño Prediction: A return to normal after one of the best years in recent memory.
After one of the biggest snow years on record, New England and Quebec will likely return to normal this year. A relatively mild December will mean a slow start snow-wise. "The main factor for resorts in Maine, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Quebec," says Gratz, "is whether the jet stream will turn far enough north." That's always hard to predict, but even more so in this El Niño year. If the jet stream doesn't cooperate, there's always the chance that a few big Nor'Easters will blow in, so keep an eye out for those. As always, there's guaranteed to be a few fun dumps this winter.
