Equinox, a nationwide health and fitness club popular with the A-list crowd, is looking to expand their services to another industry: lodging. "We are excited to announce that Equinox will be expanding into the luxury lifestyle hotel business," says Equinox CEO Harvey Spevak.
The development aims to serve travelers who prioritize fitness while traveling by either including a full Equinox facility within the hotel or allowing guests to have access to a gym in the local neighborhood where the hotel is located. The first hotel is planned to open in New York City in 2018, with a second location in Los Angeles following in 2019. In total, Equinox intends to open a hotel in each of the 75 locations where gyms are currently established, including London, Dallas, San Francisco, and Miami.
"Expanding our club business to hotels allows us to create and support offerings for a larger audience, as an always on lifestyle partner,” says Spevak. We are experts in the art of life maximization, creating bespoke experiences, offering unparalleled services and always seeking to inspire through considered design."
That design will be a product of the Yabu Pushelberg firm and will feature modern décor and integrated technology. Guests can receive in-room and personalized one-on-one coaching and have access to an on-location spa for recovery-specific treatments. Each location will also feature a destination restaurant that focuses on organic and locally sourced fare.
