Get off the beaten path in the Tri-Peaks region of Arkansas.
The Ozark and Ouachita Mountains collide together in the Tri-Peaks area of northwestern Arkansas in a magnificent display of rugged greenery along the shores of the Arkansas River. Four state parks — all ripe for exploration — protect the region’s serene lakes, towering peaks and fast-flowing waterways. You can hike (or rock-climb) up 2,753-foot Mount Magazine, cycle the 28-mile Moccasin Gap Trail, canoe through Class I-III rapids along the 62-mile Mulberry River or camp amid the dense forests of Petit Jean, Arkansas’s first state park.
