The Louvre, Paris
The Place: Another not-to-be-missed attraction in Paris, Musée du Louvre, has not only stood as a symbol of French wealth and monarchy over the centuries, but it’s one of the world’s largest and most visited museums in the world today. And with more than 70,000 pieces of art on display and more than 2,000 employees keeping them all in check, the Louvre is another jewel in the city of love, if only to see Mona Lisa and that ambiguous smile of hers.
Beat the Crowds: According to Paris-based travel and food writer Lindsey Tramuta, the best time to visit the Louvre is on Wednesdays or Fridays when the museum offers extended hours, otherwise known as Nocturne. It’s open until 9:45 p.m., so you don’t have to rush to fit a tour at the Louvre into your day. However, Tramuta still suggests ordering tickets in advance of your visit so you can join the express lane and avoid long queue times.
